- Oct 27, 2016
Platform expands load management to broader portfolio of smart devices within homes and small businesses through next-generation Intelligent Demand Side Management capabilities.
Germantown, MD– October 27, 2016 — Earth Networks today announced the launch of its Connected Savings℠platform (formerly WeatherBug Home) to provide consumers with energy savings and comfort by delivering unprecedented energy intelligence through the integration of Internet of Things (IoT)-connected smart home devices, proprietary weather data, and its patented and predictive algorithms.
Connected Savings is an Intelligent Demand Side Management (IDSM) platform with a comprehensive demand response management system (DRMS) that allows for tailored DR control strategies and a partner-friendly customer engagement portal in addition to automated energy efficiency and actionable home energy insights. Connected Savings serves as a scalable platform to meet the demand response and energy efficiency needs of utilities and smart home OEM vendors. Its new Connected Savings Intelligence (CSI) portal offers full DR event management tools for standard or intelligent DR with flexible dispatch and operations management capabilities.
“The Connected Savings brand communicates our position as an energy services market leader able to save customers money while keeping them comfortable,” said Amena Ali, SVP & GM of Earth Networks’ Connected Savings business unit. “The value we deliver is based on our proprietary weather datasets, patented algorithms that correlate indoor to outdoor conditions, predictive energy efficiency analytics, and integration with the growing ecosystem of IoT-connected smart home devices.”
Connected Savings delivers a set of benefits to customers, utilities, and smart home OEM vendors.
- Demand Response Management System – Connected Savings takes a device agnostic approach providing a single interface across all devices (BYOD). By aggregating device data, along with smart meter and its own weather data, the platform implements a variety of tailored DR strategies. Embedded predictive algorithms produce highly accurate capacity and load forecasts to drive DR event planning and management for both residential and SMB customers. Its scalable, flexible architecture fits the utility DR and EE needs of today while allowing for expanded capabilities in the future.
- Energy Efficiency – Through its robust IoT-centric ecosystem of industry-leading smart home partners, including Honeywell, ecobee, and Emerson, Connected Savings intelligently optimizes devices for automated energy efficiency programs that deliver unmatched results. The platform also provides consumers with personalized data-driven insights via a Home Energy ScoreCard that enables energy savings while maximizing comfort.
- Customer Engagement – The Connected Savings Engagement portal enables customers to easily enroll in utility programs, connect their devices, access their customized Home Energy ScoreCard, and other utility information, all from the palm of their hand.
The Connected Savings platform is designed for consumers seeking energy savings, comfort, and custom insights; utilities looking to meet demand response and energy efficiency goals with increased customer engagement and value; and OEM partners that manufacture smart home devices such as thermostats, appliances, security systems, and other connected home offerings.
